No Time Bread Results

So, I made the no time bread the other day. It rose like it should and looked awesome. Then, I put it in the oven and it totally fell. I don't know what I did wrong, but the whole thing was flat. Boo.

No picture of the error!

No Time Bread

Since I didn't plan ahead, I didn't have time to make "regular" bread. I found a recipe for no-time bread from The Kitchn. It's rising as we speak! Stay tuned.

Farmers Market finds

We went to the last outdoor market on Saturday (sniff) and stocked up on a few things. Jam, honey, carrots, onions, short ribs (yum!) and apples. Mmmm.

Last year I bought some short ribs and ended up making a version of this recipe from Everybody Likes Sandwiches. Here is a link to the wine braised short ribs. You need need to make these. YUM.

French Breakfast Puffs

It didn't take long for me to decide to make the French Breakfast Puffs. I'm so glad I did. They are light and fluffy and buttery and cinnamony goodness.

YUM.

Here is the recipe, courtesy of Pioneer Woman:

French Breakfast Puffs
3 cups flour
3 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 cup sugar
2/3 cup shortening (Crisco)
2 eggs
1 cup milk
1 1/2 cups sugar
3 teaspoons cinnamon
2 sticks butter

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Lightly grease 12 muffin cups. Stir together flour, baking powder, salt, and nutmeg. Set aside. Pray. In a different bowl, cream together 1 cup sugar and shortening, then add eggs and mix. Add flour mixture and milk alternately to creamed mixture, beating well after each addition. Fill prepared muffin cups 2/3 full. Bake at 350 for 20-25 minutes or until golden. In a bowl, melt 2 sticks butter. In a separate bowl combine remaining sugar and cinnamon. Dip baked muffins in butter, coating thoroughly, then coat with cinnamon-sugar mixture. Eat. Faint.

NOTES:

I used butter instead of shortening and cinnamon instead of nutmeg in the muffins. I would up the amount of cinnamon next time.

Baking Stuff

No, I'm not listening to Christmas music. Not when it is only Nov 6 and it's gorgeous and 62 degrees. No siree.

I am, however, thinking about baking.

Light Oat Bread and perhaps some of these tasty looking French Breakfast Puffs. Mmmm.

Deals

I had some time to myself today and spent it doing very exciting things like changing the vacuum cleaner belt and grocery shopping. :)

Anyway, I stopped at Logli's (Schmucks, ooops Schnucks) and grabbed a couple things since they double coupons up to .55. yeah!

Green Giant Steamers, $1.00, free after coupon
Starkist tuna pouch, $1.37, .37 after coupon

Then went to Woodman's. Nothing to crazy there--except for their normal, crazy cheap prices--but did get a few things:
Wheat Thins, $2, free after coupon
Marcel Small Steps 4 pack TP, .99, free after coupon
HUGE box of Honey Nut Cheerios $3, plus I had a coupon for $1 off 2
Yo Plus, $2, $1 after coupon
Creamer Peppermint Mocha, $1.37, .37 after coupon

Last stop Target for cereal
Skippy PB .93 after coupon
4 boxes Kellogg's cereal, $1.01 each after coupon
Halloween shirt, $1.25

All in all not a bad day. Walgreens was out of the Lubriderm, so I'll try some other time.

I realized that I don't like a lot of popular things. Things that other people love. Things that seem to be best sellers.

I was browsing on line and came across an article about Baby Legs. I don't get them. I have friends that rave about them. Yes, the are cute. Other than that....just don't get the point. What's wrong with a pair of pants? Sure, they are cute under a dress or something, but that is about it. What the heck do boys need them for? Hmm.
